Professional Supervision and Reflective Practice
Supporting Professional Growth. Strengthening Practice. Promoting Wellbeing.
Rodda Social Work and Counselling provides professional supervision and reflective practice support for social workers, human services practitioners and professionals working in mental health, aged care and community services.
Professional supervision provides a confidential, supportive and structured environment for practitioners to reflect on their work, strengthen professional skills, explore ethical challenges and maintain their professional wellbeing.
Drawing on extensive experience in social work practice, mental health, residential aged care, program management and the supervision of university placement students, our approach promotes professional growth, ethical decision-making and reflective practice.
We recognise that every practitioner brings unique experiences, professional responsibilities and development needs. Supervision is therefore tailored to the individual's professional context, learning goals and practice requirements.
Our approach is collaborative, strengths-based and grounded in the values and ethical principles of the social work profession.
Professional Supervision
A supportive and confidential space for qualified social workers and human services practitioners to reflect on their professional experiences, explore complex practice situations and strengthen ethical decision-making.
Supervision is tailored to individual professional needs, with an emphasis on reflective practice, professional development, practitioner wellbeing and maintaining safe, effective and ethical service delivery.
Early Career and Student Support
Individualised supervision and professional guidance for university placement students, graduates and practitioners transitioning into professional practice.
Drawing on experience supporting social work and psychology placement students, our approach encourages confidence, critical reflection, professional identity development and the practical application of theoretical knowledge in real-world settings.
Professional supervision provides an opportunity to strengthen professional knowledge, develop confidence in practice and explore the challenges and responsibilities associated with working in human services.
At Rodda Social Work and Counselling, supervision is individually tailored to the practitioner's experience, professional responsibilities and learning objectives.
Areas of supervision may include:
Reflective Practice and Critical Thinking: Exploring professional experiences, developing insight and strengthening evidence-informed decision-making.
Ethical Practice and Professional Responsibilities: Navigating ethical dilemmas, professional standards, confidentiality, informed consent and accountability.
Complex Case Discussions: Reflecting on challenging client presentations, psychosocial complexities, risk considerations and multidisciplinary approaches to care.
Professional Boundaries and Self-Awareness: Strengthening therapeutic boundaries, recognising personal responses and maintaining professional integrity.
Practitioner Wellbeing and Resilience: Supporting sustainable practice, managing professional stress and recognising the impacts of emotionally demanding work.
Professional Identity and Career Development: Building confidence, identifying professional strengths and establishing meaningful professional development goals.
Leadership and Practice Development: Supporting practitioners transitioning into senior, supervisory or leadership responsibilities.
Student Placement and Early Career Development: Supporting the integration of theory into practice, professional reflection, ethical decision-making and the development of professional confidence.
At Rodda Social Work and Counselling, we recognise that professional supervision should be accessible, flexible and responsive to the needs of individual practitioners and organisations.
We offer individually negotiated supervision arrangements, including regular ongoing sessions, short-term professional support and reflective practice consultations.
